First Alert Weather: Great conditions for Father’s Day and the first day of summer! Tracking rain tomorrow though

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Happy Father’s Day, first day of summer, and longest day of the year! The summer solstice officially occurred at 4:24am this morning, as some scattered showers developed over Rt. 104. Those showers have moved out and fizzled out, and the rest of the day will be fantastic. Expect mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies, light winds, dry dew points, and highs in the mid to upper 70s.

We are also tracking the return of some hefty rain for the start of the workweek. Widespread moderate to heavy rain will envelop the region starting around 8am, peaking in intensity in the early afternoon, then tapering off Monday evening into the night. Highs will only be in the upper 60s, but the winds will be light. Rainfall totals will range from half an inch to an inch. Right now we do not anticipate any major flood concerns, but check back in for updates as we continue to track the system.

Tuesday and Wednesday we return to nice comfortable weather with sunny skies, mild temperatures, and low humidity. However, unsettled weather will return for Thursday through Saturday, with Thursday and Friday in particular containing some thunderstorms. It’s too early to determine the exact strength of these storms, so again check back in for updates.

If you’ve been waiting for more summer-like temperatures, you’ll get them early next week. Temperatures will reach the 80s, and we expect above average temperatures for the 4th of July.

Stay tuned to News10 NBC for updates on the forecast!
