ROCHESTER, N.Y. — A man has been charged with second-degree murder after stabbing a man outside a bar early Saturday morning. Later, the man was taken to the hospital and died soon after, police say.
Rochester police said they were called to 187 St. Paul St. around 3:30 a.m. after a report of a stabbing. Police said 23-year-old Alexavier Colon argued with his girlfriend inside a bar that turned into a fight outside of it.
Police said 33-year-old Kameron Nelson, who was the bar’s cook, saw the fight and tried to help the woman. Colon stabbed Nelson multiple times, according to police.
Nelson was taken to the hospital and died soon after.
Later, the Rochester Police Department’s SWAT Team and Tactical Unit executed a search warrant on West Main Street, leading to Colon being arrested, police say.
Police add that Colon will be arraigned at a later date.

He pleaded guilty to criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree.
In 2023, Colon was sentenced to three years in prison and then to be released under supervision. He was released just last month, police say.
