WAYNE COUNTY, N.Y. — The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office said it’s investigating “the misappropriation of funds” from the Town of Walworth Fire Department on Wednesday. The investigation involves a former member of the department, according to the sheriff’s office.
This follows an investigation that began back in February 2026, the sheriff’s office added.
The Town of Walworth posted a statement on its Facebook page saying its aware of an open investigation into the fire department. Adding the town has no affiliation with the Walworth Fire Department nor with the Walworth Fire District.
The investigation is ongoing, and no additional details will be released at this time. However, WCSO said more information will be given at a later time.
