Kids, season ticket holders and superfans all show up for the first day of Bills training camp — rain and all

PITTSFORD, N.Y. — The Buffalo Bills kicked off their 20th training camp at St. John Fisher University in Pittsford on Wednesday.

News10NBC’s Jennifer Lewke spent the morning with fans who braved soggy conditions to watch their team practice. Rain and overcast skies didn’t stop Bills Mafia from showing up in full force, with ponchos and raincoats in hand.

“I’ve had season tickets for 29 years, went to three super bowls, 91’, 92’ and 93,” Johanne Christ of Hilton said.

Many fans at the first day of camp are season ticket holders, and the new stadium dominated conversation.

“Looks good, looks big… excited to see the Buffalos out front and hopefully get some wins in there,” Nick LaFlair of Syracuse said.

“From what I can see, it looks amazing, I can’t wait to get in there and check it out. I just hope it brings success, further success and I hope the boys can do it this year,” Ryan Flemming of Rochester said.

“I can’t wait to get in there and see everything, the little tid bits they put out just make you more and more eager to go in,” Harold Fuller of Angelica said.

Fans also shared their thoughts on the team heading into the season. Christ expressed some concerns about the defense and the draft picks, though she acknowledged she could be wrong.

“There’s a lot of question marks, but I guess that’s what makes it exciting for the beginning of the season,” LaFlair said.

Younger fans tried to snag autographs as players left the field on Wednesday. Some used the drop-down rope technique, others tossed items to sign, but most just screamed for their favorite players.

“I got Josh, Kincaid, CJ, I got like Keon Coleman, Shavers, all the greats on the team,” Chase Carter of Syracuse said.
