ROCHESTER, N.Y. — State lawmakers have secured more than $1.6 million to complete the Rochester Museum and Science Center’s Strasenburgh Planetarium renovation.
The new funding brings the total for the Space Campaign to $2.2 million, allowing the planetarium to move forward with upgrades in technology, accessibility and sustainability. The planetarium has been a Rochester icon since 1968, inspiring thousands of students and visitors each year.
“We are ensured that the Strasenburgh Planetarium remains a vibrant, comfortable and modern home for scientific discovery for decades to come,” said Jim Bader, director of RMSC Strasenburgh Planetarium.
Construction will begin immediately, with the goal of keeping the planetarium a modern hub for scientific discovery and community programming.
