ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The week started off beautifully with a clear blue sky and mild air, and we have more of that on the way. We have a blocking pattern that has set up over the United States. There are a pair of low pressure systems over the southwest and the southeast, meanwhile a sprawling area of high pressure both at the surface and aloft over much of the central and eastern US. This blocking pattern means we’ll see very little change in the overall weather this week. A cold front will drop south on Thursday, bringing a brief uptick in cloud cover, and the very slight chance of a shower. Otherwise, the week will be dry and sunny.

Tuesday morning will start off in the 40s closer to Lake Ontario, and 30s south of Rochester. Other than some valley fog in the Finger Lakes, we should see another day of blue sky and sunshine, though a little cooler with highs in the mid 50s. Wednesday will see very similar weather, with highs in the 50s and sunshine.

That approaching cold front on Thursday will bring a mostly cloudy sky at times, but high pressure quickly builds in again with more sunshine and seasonably cool air to end the work week. Looking ahead to the weekend – we look like we’ll maintain our quiet and dry weather, with temperatures possibly warming back into the 60s.
