Seneca Park Zoo hosts ‘Zoobilation’ on Saturday, a fundraiser supporting education and outreach

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — This year’s Zoobilation gave people the opportunity to experience the zoo after hours and sip and stroll through a tasting trail that featured local businesses.

Zoobilation is the zoo’s largest fundraiser of the year. The money raised supports education and outreach programs.

“What we believe is that conservation belongs to everybody, and this is the place where people come and they fall in love with nature, and they learn that they’re responsible for it. That it’s not up to somebody else to help save river otters and lake sturgeons. It’s up to all of us to help keep our region clean. To know how we can live more sustainably so that we can all live in harmony with nature, for the good of the planet, so we all have clean air, clean water, clean soil,” said Pamela Reed Sanchez, president and CEO of the Seneca Park Zoo Society.

News10NBC’s Nikki Rudd emceed the event. At the State of the County, County Executive Adam Bello announced a $100 million effort to transform the zoo.

The county and state are paying for about two-thirds of the current project. The zoo society is funding the rest.
