Rochester Police take 19 year old into custody after stolen car chase

 

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — A 19 year old was taken into custody after Rochester Police say they had a stolen car and a handgun.

Officers responded to the area of Conkey Avenue and Avenue D at around 10 a.m. Friday for a report of a stolen car. They say they found the car and tried to stop it.

Police say the driver ran from officers and started a foot chase. During the chase, they say the suspect threw the 40 caliber Glock handgun, loaded with 19 rounds, that was affixed with a switch to make it fire fully automatically.

After the suspect threw the gun, police say they ran into a house. They say while setting up containment on the house, the suspect ran from it and another chase started.

With assistance of K9, the suspect was safely taken into custody. Police say the investigation is ongoing and charges are still to be determined.
