RFD: Two dogs die after garage catches fire on Dewey Avenue

 

Large fire response spotted on Dewey Avenue on Thursday night

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The Rochester Fire Department says two dogs died after a garage caught fire on Dewey Avenue near Costar Street on Thursday night.

Crews responded just before 8 p.m. after getting multiple calls for people and pets possibly being trapped in a garage fire behind a business. Firefighters battled the flames from the outside and inside, while searching the building and the garage.

RFD says no people were trapped, but found two dead dogs inside the building. It took the fire 20 minutes to get under control, and RG&E responded to secure electrical hazards.
