ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Friday will start cloudy with some showers. Skies will then clear towards midday with fair and cool weather this afternoon into tonight. Plan on some breaks of sunshine and temps in the 50s Friday afternoon. There will be a small chance for a pop-up shower during the afternoon but most of the region stays dry after the morning showers clear out. Partly cloudy in the 40s tonight. Threat Tracker will be Green with no large storm systems into the weekend.

Looking ahead to the weekend. Saturday will be warmer with top temperatures into the low 60s and perhaps even some mid to upper 60s if we get sunshine. A storm will bring rain to parts of the Southern Tier but at this time appears to stay safely to our south. There will be a small shower threat Saturday afternoon. Better chance for some showers and a possible thunderstorm Saturday Evening so keep an eye out for that. For Mother’s Day an early morning shower is possible then clouds clear for some sunshine and it will be a touch cooler in the 50s to near 60.

Next week will bring more cooler than normal weather but an overall drier pattern. Some showers are possible midweek but at this time no heavy rain is expected. Later next week into the following weekend some signs are pointing to a slow but steady warming pattern finally making it into the Great Lakes and Northeast, including Rochester. Stay tuned to News10 for updates on timing and placement of showers for Saturday.
