ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Two firefighters were hurt after a three-alarm fire where three houses and two cars caught fire on the city’s northwest side.
Fire officials from the Rochester Fire Department say crews were dispatched to Conkey Avenue just before 2 p.m. Wednesday for a report of a car and a house on fire.
When crews got there, they say two houses and a car were on fire. Officials say the initial fire started to spread, which resulted in the fire spreading to a yard, an SUV, and a third house.
A second-alarm was called, shortly followed by a third-alarm. Officials say the issue wasn’t the amount of fire, but moving the hoses from house-to-house.
The fire was mostly contained to the initial house and car where it started. Officials say there were some damage to the other two houses.
According to officials, two firefighters have substantial but non-life threatening injuries. Officials say the two will be looked at by AMR and most likely transported for observation.
Although officials say nobody else was hurt, they believe at least three adults and a child will be displaced as a result.
Conkey Avenue between Avenue A and Woodford Street in Rochester was closed as crews worked to put out the fire.
Officials say there will be an “extensive” investigation into the cause of the fire.
