ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The International Plaza wrapped up its Market Days for the year with a celebration for Hispanic Heritage Month.
Despite some rain, dozens of people came out to celebrate the cultures and traditions that make up Rochester’s Latino community, News10NBC’s Declan Stablow reported from the plaza. The free event featured music from local Latino musicians and plenty of dancing.

There were also Latino-owned businesses and food vendors set up in the plaza. Organizers said the plaza represents the ways that immigrants and Latinos have contributed to Rochester’s culture and economy.
“It’s a time to really celebrate the importance of Latino culture in America right now. Especially now more than ever, we want to celebrate the importance of our culture,” Jason Barber said. “We’ve been here forever. You know, many of our cultures have been here for more than 500 years, you know, so it’s important to celebrate. The Latinos have been part of the American story since before there was an America,” Barber said.
Organizers said this was a big year for the International Plaza, drawing more than 14,000 people to its events. National Hispanic Heritage Month wraps up Thursday, Oct. 15.
