Parolee pleads not guilty in deadly stabbing of cook outside St. Paul Street bar

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — A man on parole has pleaded not guilty to murder after Rochester Police say he stabbed a cook to death outside of a bar on St. Paul Street in June.

Alexavier Colon, 23, is accused of stabbing 33-year-old Kameron Nelson on the morning of June 21. Rochester Police say Nelson, who was a cook at The Mafia Hub, died soon after arriving at the hospital. In a statement, The Mafia Hub said the entire organization is mourning Nelson’s death.

Colon was released on parole on May 18 after serving a three-and-a-half-year prison sentence, according to the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision. DOCCS says it was notified last month that Colon was a suspect in the stabbing, and the department worked with RPD to find him using GPS data.

In 2021, Colon was arrested for being involved in a shooting on Sullivan Street. He pleaded guilty to criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree. In 2023, he was sentenced to three years in prison, then released under supervision. He was released in May with an ankle monitor attached, police say.

After Colon’s not guilty plea related to the St. Paul Street shooting, he was remanded without bail.
