PARMA, N.Y. — The man convicted in a deadly DWI crash in 2019 is now up for parole.

Matthew Magar is serving a 22-year sentence for aggravated vehicular homicide and DWI. Police said that on Jan. 7, 2019, Magar was driving nearly 100 mph when he ran a stop sign and hit Dilek Ogut’s car, killing her.

A blood test showed Magar’s blood alcohol level was more than four times the legal limit.

“Everyone called her an angel, she was calm, selfless, hard-worker, saving every single penny for her kids,” said Ogut’s brother, Aydin Aydin, who was at the sentencing in 2019.

Magar pled guilty to all counts of a six count indictment, also including manslaughter in the second degree.

Now, Magar’s parole interview is set for May.

Ogut left behind three children.
