ADDISON, N.Y. — New York State Police say a man shot and killed a 41-year-old man in Steuben County on Friday, then apparently took his own life.

It happened around 7 a.m. in the Village of Addison. Troopers say the shooter, 45, arrived at a home on Academy Street and began arguing with a woman and her partner, the victim. According to police, the shooter left the house but later returned and killed the victim.

Police say the shooter drove off and crashed on nearby Wall Street. Troopers found him dead in the woods from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

An autopsy will confirm the causes of death for the two men. The woman, 43, wasn’t injured. Troopers are still investigating and they say there is no threat to the public.
