ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Two 22-year-olds were found guilty by a Monroe County Jury Wednesday for a triple shooting in 2024 that killed a 19-year-old.
Nasezire Horton and Quentin Riviere were both convicted of murder, attempted murder, criminal possession of a weapon, and criminal possession of a controlled substance.
On Aug. 12, 2024, prosecutors say police officers found Rukia Issack, a 16-year-old boy, and a 15-year-old boy shot on Hazelwood Terrace in the Beechwood neighborhood.
All three of them were brought to Strong Memorial Hospital, where Issack later died. The other two teens recovered from their serious injuries.
Rochester Police quickly determined this to be a targeted shooting, but prosecutors say Issack was not the intended target.
Horton and Riviere were arrested three days after the shooting. Riviere was on parole for burglary at the time of the shooting, and Horton was recently released to parole from a previous assault conviction at the time.
At the time of the shooting, this sparked a debate over parole reform in New York State.
Horton and Riviere are set to be sentenced in January.
