ROCHESTER, N.Y. — A new survey found nearly every Rochester parent wants stronger action to improve education for all students.
A community-wide rally was held Monday at Parcel 5 in downtown Rochester where parents, educators and leaders came together to demand better results in Rochester city schools. Advocacy group EDceptional reported student performance remained far below expectations across district and charter schools.
“We want people to take this serious. Rochester is dying here, educationally. We are an academic desert and we need to do something differently,” Dr. Paul Miller, chief academic officer of EDceptional, said.
Advocates said the situation is critical. EDceptional urged lawmakers to hold a public meeting within 60 days and called on parents to advocate for more education funding.
