Man charged after being accused of abandoning pets

CANADICE, N.Y. — Ontario County Humane Society Investigators say a man is charged after abandoning a dog, a cat, and two kittens in Canadice.

Investigators say they found the animals left behind in a mobile home back on June 19. They also say the home was covered in animal feces, urine, and rotting garbage, and it was previously deemed unhabitable by the Town of Canadice Code Enforcement Office.

Just over a week later, investigators arrested Brett Kellar in Geneva.

Kellar faces several charges, including animal cruelty, failure to provide food and water to an impounded animal, and animal abandonment. He was issued an appearance ticket.

The animals are now up for adoption at the Happy Tails Animal Shelter.
