ALBANY, N.Y. — Lawmakers have now passed a seventh budget extension. The original budget deadline was April 1.
Major sticking points include climate law rollbacks, car insurance reforms, immigration policies, and taxes for New York’s richest residents.
The temporary measure authorizes nearly $13 billion in spending to make sure state employees get paid.
The delay is leaving school districts and local governments in a holding pattern. The Rochester City School District is set to hold a hearing Monday to discuss the district’s budget for the next school year. You can read and learn more here.
