PERINTON, N.Y. — Around 55 participants took part in the 25th Annual Fishing Derby at Perinton Park on Saturday. The kids-only derby went from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and was catch and release.
Family members came to the event to support the kids.

The Town of Perinton partnered with the Knights of Columbus for the event.
“Every kid walks away with something. You know, they have fun catching the fish, and throwing them back in. We’re also in, there’s a couple other events we sponsor, and we’re using the registration for the fishing derby, to then register the kids for the soccer challenge that we do in September,” said Bob Nazzaro, grand knight for the Bishop McQuaid Council of the Knights of Columbus in Fairport.
Winners were declared by the number of fish caught and who caught the biggest fish.
The event also featured prize giveaways and food.
