Irondequoit renames Titus Ave after longtime physician Dr. Joseph Carbone

IRONDEQUOIT, N.Y. — A major Rochester roadway is getting a new name, honoring a man whose impact on local health care and the community won’t be forgotten.

Titus Avenue in Irondequoit was formally dedicated as the Dr. Joseph L. Carbone Memorial Highway on Monday. Carbone was a longtime Rochester-area physician, specializing in podiatry.

He was also a civic leader and former county lawmaker. Organizers said the event was a fitting way to honor a man who did so much for the community he lived in.

“He believed he could make a difference in the lives of Irondequoit residents, and that belief guided him throughout his career,” said Monroe County Executive Adam Bello.

“He touched many lives with his kindness, friendship, commitment to others,” said John Perticone, Irondequoit town supervisor. “Joe’s friends and family will look at this as a permanent reminder of the journey they travelled.”

Carbone practiced medicine locally for more than 40 years. He died last June.
