GREECE, N.Y. — A large tree crashed onto the roof of a home in Greece on Tuesday night as the homeowner was lying in bed.
News10NBC went to the home on Florence Avenue off Dewey Avenue on Wednesday to check out the damage. Town crews have cleared tree debris from the road to reopen the area to traffic. However, the tree still lies across the yard and on parts of the home.
The homeowner says the tree broke his bedroom window, sending glass onto his bed, as he was reading on it around 9:30 p.m. At first, he thought a car drove into his home.
“So I was lying in bed. I was reading, and I heard a crack I thought was thunder. It was almost like a rumbling. And then all of a sudden the whole window just kind of blew in on me. And I tell you what, I jumped out of bed,” said Tom Moore, the homeowner.
Moore says he’s lucky he wasn’t hurt.
