Gov. Hochul pushes for return of 2 local men after they were recently arrested by ICE

NEW YORK — Gov. Kathy Hochul said she spoke with Department of Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin about the recent ICE arrests in Mount Morris and SUNY Brockport.

In a Facebook post on Thursday, Hochul said she talked with Mullin in the evening about the ICE arrests of Dian Zhao Lin and German Machado.

Dian Zhao Lin, originally from China, has owned and operated the Mun Yuen Chinese food restaurant in Mount Morris for more than 20 years. On Tuesday, ICE agents arrested him.

Earlier in October, SUNY Brockport IT technician German Machado was detained at the Buffalo Federal Detention Center in Batavia, according to Alissa Karl, vice president of the United University Professions union.

In the Facebook post, Hochul said, “I want their families to know that I’m doing everything in my power to bring their loved ones home.”

She also said she’s pushing for both men’s return. “I’m encouraged by the Secretary’s willingness to engage, and I’ll continue pushing for their swift return,” said Hochul.
