First Alert Weather: Yellow alert for Tuesday

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The News10NBC First Alert meteorologists have issued a yellow alert for Tuesday afternoon and evening.  A strong cold front is heading for Western New York and along that front showers, downpours and possibly a thunderstorm will sweep across the area.  This will be beneficial rain, however, the question is this too much of a good thing?  The Rochester area is still listed in a severe drought, but this rain has the potential to be heavy at times which could cause poor visibility and ponding on area roadways.

Tonight, look for clear, moonlit skies with the temperature falling into the middle to upper 50s.  Monday will bring another day of sunshine and unseasonably warm weather.  The temperature will be in the middle 80s which will not be far from the record high temperature of 87 degrees set back in 1900.  Then clouds increase later Monday night with showers becoming more numerous Monday morning.  There is the chance of a few downpours and thunder Monday afternoon and evening.  There is little chance of flooding, but the News10NBC First Alert meteorologists will continue to monitor.

Stay tuned to News10NBC First Alert weather for updates on the forecast.
