ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The elevators at Pinnacle Apartments in Rochester went out again on Sunday morning, leaving some people stranded for hours.
News10NBC’s Declan Stablow was at the scene and spoke with neighbors. People who live there said the fire alarm went off around 6 a.m. Then the power went out. With elevators not working, some people living on the upper floors had no way of getting out.
Many of the neighbors are seniors or have disabilities. One woman said she didn’t have power for her oxygen tank.
All three of the building’s elevators also went out of service last Sunday. Back in July, both of the building’s two 18-story elevators were out of service.
RG&E crews were seen working on the issue. By the time News10NBC left, power was back on.
But neighbors are fed up and want a permanent fix.
“This is a retirement home, and a lot of people are handicapped, and you have to worry about people with oxygen, and that’s what I worry about… and when you got the power out. It was so hot by six o’clock it was already a hundred degrees,” said John Kupiszewski, who lives in the apartment.
PathStone said that as far as it knows, Sunday’s outage wasn’t related to the elevator systems. It said it hasn’t received any information from RG&E about what caused the outage.
Declan also reached out to RG&E to see if it had any information it could share, but hadn’t heard back. PathStone said the health and safety of its neighbors is its top priority.
Last week, PathStone said it has a firm looking at all three elevators at Pinnacle Apartments to figure out anything that needs to be done to keep them reliable and safe.
