First Alert Weather: Tracking some weekend rain from the leftovers of hurricane Isaias

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The upper level low that has been keeping us just a little cool and unsettled the last few days should finally begin to lift away on Friday. We’ll see a mainly clear sky Thursday night with some patchy clouds from time to time, and temperatures dipping into the mid and upper 40s. Friday should be a mainly dry day with a very slight chance of a shower. We’ll see a mostly sunny sky with temperatures still a few degrees cooler than average, in the lower half of the 60s.

The weekend starts off great, with dry weather, mild air and a fair amount of sunshine on Saturday. We’ll see high clouds moving in well ahead of the remnants of Hurricane Isaias, which is set to make landfall Friday evening/night along the northern Gulf Coast. Those clouds may actually give us a really colorful sunrise and sunset on Saturday as they begin to move in. But we’ll still see a mostly sunny sky with temperatures near 70 on Saturday.

Sunday may start off dry first thing in the morning, but the arrival of the showers is speeding up a bit, which means we’ll likely see some showers developing by mid-morning, and becoming a steadier rain by midday and into the early afternoon. The earlier arrival also means an earlier departure, which is good news for Monday. Our area should see about a half inch of rain on Sunday, before winding down Sunday night.
