HOPEWELL, N.Y. — On Saturday, Ontario County Sheriff’s deputies got reports of a two-car crash around 8:10 a.m., responding to the intersection of County Road 4 and Freshour Road. One of the two victims was taken to a hospital by Mercy Flight, according to deputies.
The sheriff’s office said a 43-year-old Naples man was driving north on Freshour Road when he didn’t stop at a stop sign. This led to him crashing into another car, driven by a 30-year-old Geneva man, who was driving east on County Road 4.
Both cars went off the road because of the crash, ending up in a yard near the intersection, according to OCSO. The Geneva man’s car rolled over but ended upright, and he was taken to a hospital for minor injuries and released, OCSO added.
However, the man from Naples was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital by Mercy Flight and is now listed as being in stable condition, according to deputies.
The roadway was shut down for over three hours due to the investigation, but has since reopened, and deputies add that both cars had significant damage and were later towed.
The crash is still under investigation.
