ROCHESTER, N.Y. – A man facing murder charges is scheduled to appear in court Friday morning. Tavontay Haygood-Session is charged with the murder of Karen Wargo, a homeless woman, last month.

Police said surveillance video captured Haygood-Session assaulting 46-year-old Wargo on Pleasant Street on July9. The cause of Wargo’s death was listed as blunt force trauma to the head and asphyxiation. The day after her death, Haygood-Session was placed under a mental health arrest for becoming aggressive with officers.
Haygood-Session, 31, has three prior felony convictions. He was convicted of attempted arson and endangering the welfare of a child after trying to start a house fire with children inside.
