City of Rochester issues Cool Sweep for warm temperatures Thursday

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The City of Rochester is issuing a Cool Sweep for Thursday as New10NBC tracks warm temperatures.

We’re tracking dry and warm weather Thursday, with highs in the mid to upper 80s. A few showers and isolated storms will start to develop ahead of a cold front mid to late afternoon Thursday. For the latest weather forecast, click here.

What is a Cool Sweep?

Any time temperatures are forecasted to reach 85 degrees or higher, the city provides free access to cooling resources through its R-Centers, spray parks, and libraries.

In addition, counties across New York State have designated cooling centers set up where people can go to escape the heat. You can search for your nearest cooling center here

Places to cool off in Rochester

R-Centers

To cool off, people can go to one of the city’s R-Centers, which all have air conditioning. R-Centers will be open from 8:30 a.m. – 7:30 p.m. on weekdays, unless otherwise noted.
