CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. — Canandaigua Police and Ontario County sheriff’s deputies have determined that a bomb threat called into F.F. Thompson Hospital on Thursday was not credible.
The threat led police to lock down the outside of the hospital. News10NBC saw K9 units from multiple departments searching the hospital grounds. Canandaigua Police Chief Mathew Nielsen says the threat was directed at the parking lot, rather than any person in particular. There will be an increased police presence at the hospital as a precaution.
Nielsen said someone called a bomb threat into the hospital’s operations center around 5:35 a.m., and hospital staff immediately called 911. Law enforcement searched the outside and inside of the hospital, but didn’t find anything.
Investigators are now working to trace the call to determine who made the threat. Nielsen says the call may have come from a “distance away,” rather than locally.
“We do have some pretty good leads on it, and that’s about all I can say at this point,” Nielsen said.
