(SRN NEWS)-(  )  A man running for Congress in Hawaii is part of a national slate of third-party, pro-life activists seeking office.  Nathan Berning is challenging Democrat Ed Case for his 1st Congressional District seat in the November election.  Berning is backed by Babies-dot-Vote, a joint fundraising committee supporting ten pro-life congressional candidates running across the U.S.  They have been using their candidacies to air graphic images of aborted babies on TV stations around the country, including in Hawaii.  Federal law dictates that stations cannot refuse or censor political ads paid for by legally qualified candidates.

(  )  Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton is hitting the campaign trail hard with less than two weeks until Election Day.  The GOP Senate nominee visited Cornerstone Church, which became an early voting place on Monday.  Paxton posted a video from the worship service to his Facebook page, in which he stands and waves to the crowd as Pastor Matt Hagee (HAY-gee) points him out and says he’s running for the U.S. Senate.  The video shows him sitting next to Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick and state Senator Donna Campbell of New Braunfels.  Paxton is in a tight race with Democratic State Representative James Talarico.
(  )  Four people are facing charges in connection with the theft of a statue outside of a church in St. Louis last month.  Police say a hammered copper statue of Francis of Assisi was stolen from a garden beside St. Paul Episcopal Church in Alton on September 13th.  Lawmen say three of the suspects are also facing charges related to drug possession.  It appears the suspects allegedly stole the statue to sell it to a scrap metal dealer.  Authorities confirm that the statue was scrapped somewhere in Missouri, but it remains missing and church officials fear it will never be recovered.
(  )  A North Carolina church is helping pay off medical debt across the Winston-Salem, Greensboro, High Point Triad.  Trinity Moravian Church is using more than 16,000 dollars in donations to purchase 1.6 million dollars in debt to be wiped clean.  Fox Eight reports the debt affected more than 1,400 households in three counties.  The church has been buying wholesale debt portfolios to eliminate debt for pennies on the dollar since 2022.  A growing number of congregations across the country are taking up the practice, in which the companies owed are willing to settle for a percentage of the debt, rather than be paid nothing.
