YMCA of Greater Rochester will continue offering SilverSneakers next year

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — After planning to stop accepting SilverSneakers in 2026, YMCA of Greater Rochester has reached a deal that allows it to continue offering the program.

A YMCA spokesperson confirmed the news on Wednesday, saying they’ve been “working diligently to find a solution” to preserve the popular health and fitness program for those over the age of 65.

SilverSneakers is included in many Medicare Advantage plans and thousands of seniors use it to attend local YMCAs. News10NBC had spoken with SilverSneakers members about their disappointment when they heard local YMCAs would no longer offer the program.

On Tuesday, News10NBC spoke with Ernie Lamour, President and CEO of the YMCA of Greater Rochester, who said they’ve been working to come up with a solution to preserve the program.
