ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Nearly 3,000 customers have lost power in the Rochester region on Tuesday morning as thunderstorms roll through.

Tips to stay safe during the storms
Our team has some tips to stay safe during storms. To stay safe during thunder, stay inside a sturdy building or car. Stay away from windows in case they become damaged, and avoid using devices connected to electrical outlets, in case lightning travels through the home’s wiring and causes a power surge.
To stay safe during flash flooding, never drive or walk through flooded roads. The National Weather Service says just six inches of moving flood water can knock over an adult. It takes just 12 inches of rushing water to carry away most cars, and just two feet of rushing water can carry away SUVs and trucks. Also, make sure you have multiple ways to receive emergency flood warnings, including keeping your phone charged and close by in case your county issues an emergency alert.
