ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Nearly 9,000 flights across the U.S. have been canceled on Monday, including some arriving at or departing from Rochester, due to a winter storm that has slammed parts of the northeast.
The storm has led to a travel ban in New York City starting Sunday night. There are also blizzard warnings in Philadelphia, Boston, and all of New Jersey — home to major airport hubs that Frederick Douglass Greater Rochester International Airport serves.
News10NBC is tracking the impact of Rochester. Nearly two dozen departures were canceled on Monday morning. They were supposed to take off by 6:30 a.m., but only four left the tarmac. For arrivals, 17 have been canceled on Monday, and some have already been canceled for Tuesday. You can see the latest status on arrivals here and departures here in Rochester.
The Rochester area is only feeling the storm’s outer reaches, but flights can’t take off or land at airports affected by the blizzard. In total, around 35 million people are under blizzard warnings from Maryland to New Hampshire, with some parts expecting up to two feet of snow and strong winds.
