ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The Willow Domestic Violence Center held its 18th annual Walk With Willow event on Saturday, raising awareness and funds.
On Saturday morning, between 500 and 600 survivors, advocates, supporters, and others walked to represent hope, strength, and commitment to stop violence in the community.
The large gathering also featured an antique Brighton Fire Department truck in front of the Stories of Strength mural, including remarks from Rep. Joe Morelle, County Executive Adam Bello, Mayor Malik Evans, and Meaghan de Chateauvieux, president and CEO of Willow.
The funding goes to life-saving programs and services that Willow provides.

“We are here to show up to advertise those resources and support so we have and let survivors know they are not alone,” said Mesha Caldwell, director of development.
“Rain, sleet, snow, wind, anything, people come and show up. We’re all here bundled up, a little freezing but we know that we’re here for a greater cause and we’re here to show survivors once again they are not alone,” Caldwell said.
Caldwell said Willow is going to open a new location on Tuesday at Skyview on the Ridge in Irondequoit. It’ll be open for survivors to come, with or without an appointment.
