Wegmans now offering free ASL interpretation services

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Grocery shopping at Wegmans is about to get easier for people who are deaf and hard-of-hearing.

The company is now offering free access to American Sign Language interpreting at all of its stores through the Aira ASL app.

Any customer or employee can download the app and use it to start a video call with a professional interpreter. The service will be available on-demand during store hours.

Since 2018, Wegmans has offered Aira Explorer, which is an app that connects blind and low vision callers with visual interpreters for free.
