Volunteers of America celebrates 130 years of service with gala in Rochester

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Volunteers of America (VOA) celebrated 130 years of service with its sixth annual gala at the Harro East Ballroom.

News10NBC’s Deanna Dewberry was the emcee. The gala brought together supporters and community partners for an evening of awards, live music and a silent auction.

Organizers said the gala highlights VOA’s impact, including support for families facing homelessness and mental health challenges. Proceeds from the silent auction help VOA continue providing housing, education and mental health support across the region.

“So we support people across the lifespan, we serve 10,000 people annually, and in the time that we’ve been here in Upstate New York, we’ve served more than a million people,” said Dr. Junior Dillion, president and CEO of VOA Upstate New York.

The VOA is currently looking for more volunteers. Volunteer opportunities include classroom volunteer, life skills instructor, building and grounds, and more. Click here to learn more about volunteering.
