GREECE, N.Y. — Unity Hospital held an event to honor babies lost to miscarriage, stillbirth, and sudden infant death syndrome on Wednesday.
People gathered in the hospital lobby on Long Pond Road to remember the babies and the impact they had on their families.
The sixth annual Pregnancy and Infant Remembrance Ceremony also included speakers, music, readings, honorary silence, and more. Attendees also made memorial offerings such as personalized rocks, luminaries, bracelets, letters, and photos.

“Pregnancy and infant loss can be an incredibly isolating experience, and it’s important for families to know they are not alone,” said Courtney Savigney, a labor and delivery nurse at Unity Hospital. “Creating opportunities for families to remember their babies, share their stories, and connect with others who understand their grief can be an important part of the healing process.”
October is Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Month.
