SENECA FALLS, N.Y. — Two people from Seneca Falls were arrested on multiple animal cruelty charges after police say they abandoned their pets in a condemned home.
Jessica Dyson and John Walters Jr. were taken into custody on Monday after warrants were issued by the Seneca Falls Town Court. Police say they left two cats and a dog inside the home earlier this month.
The animals were found days later by a family member and received care. Both suspects face misdemeanor charges and will appear in court.
Animal abuse registries in New York
Counties around the state are creating animal abuse registries, in which those convicted of abusing an animal must register themselves.
Livingston and Ontario counties already have registries, and Monroe County proposed one this month.
