HILTON, N.Y. — Students and congregation members at Saint Paul Lutheran Church and School donated more than 1,000 boxes of cereal to the Hilton Parma Emergency Food Shelf.
The donation was enough boxes to stretch in a line all the way from the school’s gym to the sanctuary. They then knocked over the boxes in a domino-like display.

The folks who run the food shelf say getting kids involved is crucial.
“The fact that the kids are involved at such a young age means that they’ll understand the needs of food insecurity better in our community,” said Mike Zebulske, president of Hilton Parma Community Council of Churches. “Quite honestly, one of our biggest problems is having folks understand the problem. Once folks understand, they normally respond in kind.”
The Hilton Parma Emergency Food Shelf is located at Henry Street and Gorton Avenue. It’s open Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, as well as by appointment. Learn more by going to the food shelf’s website here.
