MONROE COUNTY, N.Y. — Governor Kathy Hochul announces childcare expansion pilot, Monroe County to benefit as part of the statewide investment.
Called the New Pilot Program, it includes $60 million in funding for New York State, which will partner with three counties, including Monroe County. The funding expands childcare to the targeted age group of zero to three.
The program aims to support 1,000 youth in Monroe County, with the first portion of the funding being online in 2027.
Monroe, Dutchess, and Broome will get $20 million each from the state funding.
Each county will contribute 10% in additional funding.
It adds to Monroe’s increased childcare investments through the Project Prospect anti-poverty program.
This state partnership stems from Governor Hochul’s $4.5 billion investment plan to deliver care to all children under five in the state.
