HENRIETTA, N.Y. — A Henrietta family faced a challenging situation when a loved one with dementia went missing. The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office shared images on social media of their response to the incident on Charissa Run near Jefferson Road.
Sgt. Shawn Edwards explained the strategies used to locate the missing man. “We utilized the bloodhound. And the bloodhound had a scent article and went off that scent article and started to do a trail that led up the road,” said Edwards.
“Drone will go over. They also will follow the K-9. Initially, they took a good view of the neighborhood to see if the male was on somebody’s back porch or in somebody’s back yard,” Edwards said.
The search efforts demonstrated the use of both technology and traditional methods in locating individuals with dementia.
