RRH Unity Living Center staff set to picket if no contract is reached

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Leaders of a Rochester skilled nursing facility and the union representing its caregivers will return to contract talks on Wednesday morning as a picket looms.

The 1199SEIU union on Monday issued a 10-day notice for a planned picket outside of Rochester Regional’s Unity Living Center. Workers unanimously voted to picket if contract talks continue to fail.

The 110 unionized workers at Unity Living Center currently have no contract. Their contract originally expired last July and, after multiple extensions, expired again on Feb. 18.

Union leaders say they’re fighting for higher wages to help with recruiting and retaining workers, along with staff incentive pay. They’re also looking preceptor pay, which provides staff a wage increase for training newly hired employees.

News10NBC has reached out to RRH for a comment and is waiting to hear back.
