ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Rochester Police have charged two men who they say got into a fight over marijuana and were both shot on Newcomb Street off Clifford Avenue on Friday.
Officers say Earl Wright, 45, shot Sincere Lane, 26, during the fight, and Lane returned fire. Both men are charged with criminal possession of a weapon, and Wright is charged with assault. In addition, a third person, Fawndell Henderson, is accused of hiding Lee’s gun and is charged with criminal possession of a weapon.
RPD arrived at the scene around 6:20 p.m. and found Wright on the front porch of a house with an upper-body gunshot wound. He was rushed to the hospital with injuries that were originally considered life-threatening until his condition improved. Police say they also found a handgun on the porch.
Officers also found Sincere Lane, 26, in a nearby house with a lower-body gunshot wound. He was also taken to the hospital, with non-life-threatening injuries. Investigators later searched the home on Newcomb Street and found a revolver that they say Lane used to return fire.
News10NBC’s photojournalist saw officers shut down Newcomb Street for the investigation. Police announced the charges on Thursday.
