YATES COUNTY, N.Y. — The Rochester Police Department said they found the body of Majesty Montgomery, 29, who was buried several feet underground. Detectives say Montgomery was murdered at 32 1/2 Austin St. in Rochester on May 7, and her body was taken to Yates County afterwards.
This comes after police say family members haven’t heard from her for over 24 hours before the preliminary investigation.
Family members were interviewed, leading the investigators to believe she may have been a victim of a crime.
On May 8, the investigation led the police department’s Major Crimes Homicide Unit to a large piece of land in Yates County. This is where investigators say detectives found a recently disturbed area.
Investigators say they dug up Montgomery’s body, who was found buried several feet underground.
Later, the Monroe County Medical Examiner’s Office ruled her death a homicide, RPD says. However, police say the exact cause of death will not be released yet.
The investigation is ongoing, and police say no other details will be provided.
