Rochester traffic safety dashboard lets you check crash and death data in your neighborhood

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The City of Rochester launched a new traffic safety dashboard Wednesday as part of its ongoing efforts to improve street safety.

The dashboard provides information on traffic deaths and serious crashes, and explains how the city is working to improve safety in different areas. It is part of Rochester’s “Vision Zero” initiative, which aims to reduce traffic-related deaths to zero.

The dashboard stems from the recent deadly crashes on Lake and Plymouth avenues, according to the city.

“These recent crashes are a painful reminder of why this work matters. Every person walking on our streets is someone’s mother, father, sister, brother, spouse, or child. Someone was waiting for these loved ones to come home. During Pedestrian Safety Month, I am asking everyone—drivers, pedestrians and bicyclists—to slow down, pay attention, and give each other the space we need to get home safely,” said Mayor Malik D. Evans.

City lawmakers have also been evaluating speed limits, looking at ways to make pedestrian crossings safer and expanding bicycle infrastructure.

The city released the findings from its automated traffic enforcement input sessions. To see the dashboard findings, click here.
