ROCHESTER, N.Y. — At 2:40 a.m. on March 21, Rochester police responded to an Orange Street house after getting a report of someone shot. The suspect was arrested on Wednesday.
When officers got to the scene on March 21, they found an 18-year-old woman with at least on gunshot wound to the upper body, according to police. She was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital for non-life-threatening injures, police added.
Investigators say the victim was leaving a St Patrick’s Day party at the French Quarter Cafe on West Ridge Road about an hour earlier, when a fight began in a parking lot.
Investigators say that someone in the fight shot at least once, hitting the victim. According to police, the fight included the victims family member.
A 17-year-old male was suspected by investigators to’ve shot the victim. He was then arrested on Gregory Street on Wednesday, the report says.
The suspect was charged with assault in the second degree and criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree.
