ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The Rochester City Council has unanimously voted to deny a previous decision to increase the salaries of councilmembers nearly 25%.
All nine members voted Friday to deny a December decision that would have boosted their salaries to $50,000 a year.

City Council Vice President Lashay Harris called for the vote, saying public concern regarding the council’s decision drove the change.
“Over the past few weeks, I have taken the feedback we have heard on this Council to heart,” Vice President Harris said in a press release.
Councilmembers Mary Lupien, Stanley Martin, Kim Smith, and Michael Patterson voted alongside Harris to approve the salary increase, but all of them voted Friday to rescind that decision.
