ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The Hart Theatre celebrated its grand reopening after a million dollar renovation, marking a major moment for Rochester’s arts community.
The theater now features all new seats, carpeting and expanded bathrooms. The renovation coincided with the opening night of the musical “Come From Away,” which is expected to be the theater’s biggest selling show ever.
“Hundreds of donors and sponsors, hundreds of workers coming in and making sure that everything happened and that the show is ready to go and the theatre is ready to open,” said Ralph Meranto, artistic director of the CenterStage Theatre.
The theater, once called the crowning jewel of Rochester, now returns to host a full slate of events including children’s productions, film and book festivals. “Come From Away” runs through Oct. 25.
