FAIRPORT, N.Y. — Fairport native Lucas West placed third in the final round of NBC’s hit show “The Voice” on Tuesday night. The top spot went to Alexia Jayy.
West gave an homage to his Rochester-area roots by singing Foreigner’s “Cold as Ice” for one of his final performances.
Back in West’s hometown of Fairport, his friends and family gathered to watch his big moment. Lucas’ dad Matthias owns the Faircraft Brauhaus on Parce Avenue.
His parents say Lucas has been involved in music since childhood and that he was driven to try out and make it onto “The Voice.”
“Music is in his genes, and mom and dad try to foster it as much as we could. But he’s clearly inclined to make a living out of it, so we will see where it takes him,” Matthias West said.
“He keeps telling me, mom, it feels so good that so many people are behind me. He’s really proud of his hometown,” Kristin West said.
The Wests say they’re proud of what their son has accomplished and are excited to see what he does next.
